Know Before You Go!

Prior to your 1st ice time, all players, parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to read through all of the detailed safety protocols and guidelines of the OWHA and Haldimand County in the Covid-19 Menu.  Staying informed, adhering to guidelines and cooperating with Haldimand County Facilities Staff, Rivercats Coaches and Rivercats Executive will enable athletes to enjoy a bit of hockey as sporting activities have been very limited in the community and schools since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

EVERY time you head to the rink, the checklist below highlights key reminders to ensure a safe environment for all participants and attendees.

  • If you're not feeling well, stay home.
  • If you've been exposed to a person who has tested positive, stay home.
  • Participants (players, coaches, refs) will be screened by a Rivercats representative upon entry.
  • Parents/Guardians will be screened by Haldimand County staff upon entry.
  • Arena doors will open 15 minutes prior to rental.
  • Facility entry doors will be locked during rental - no re-entry for spectators.
  • Everyone must exit the arena within 15 minutes.
  • Wear a mask except when on the ice.
  • Socially distance at all times.
  • Dress in your equipment prior to entering the arena.
  • No dressing rooms except for goalies and referees. Look for rink-side chairs to put your skates on.
  • No gym bags or equipment bags in the arena.  Players should carry skates, helmet and gloves on their sticks or have parent assist.  Exceptions made for goalies, coaches, trainers and referees.  Updated: Players may carry a small hand bag containing health & safety items such as inhalers, epi-pens, tampons, sanitizer, keys, etc.  This does not mean a gym bag with your skates and gloves!
  • Only 1 Parent/Guardian may accompany each player.  They may assist with equipment and then must socially distance in the designated spectator area.
  • No siblings are permitted in the arena.

If you have questions or require further clarification, please contact your coach or a Rivercats executive member.
