The future of the Haldimand Rivercats is looking bright!
This past weekend, the U9 Rivercats took on the Hamilton Hawks Hawkey Tournament and came away undefeated, finishing first in their pool with a perfect 4-0 record. While this was a jamboree-style tournament with no playoffs, the team’s dominant performance—scoring 15 goals while allowing only 3—felt like a championship win.
The Future of Rivercats U9 Hockey
This tournament showcased not just the incredible talent in our U9 program, but also the strong development model the Rivercats have in place. The focus at this level is on building fundamental skills, teamwork, and confidence, and the success of this group is proof that the system is working.
With growing interest in the U9 division, the Rivercats are exploring the addition of a U9 Rep team next season. The goal is to give young players even more opportunities to develop and compete at a higher level while still keeping the focus on grassroots hockey, fun, and growth.
Now Recruiting: U9 Rep Head Coach
As we look to expand our U9 program, we are actively recruiting a Head Coach for the new U9 Rep team. If you are passionate about developing young athletes and want to be part of the Rivercats’ growing success, we encourage you to apply.
